Year 12 Next Steps Interview Bookings are open
In Term 3, all year 12 students will be involved in a Next Steps interview with a Guidance Officer or a member of the senior schooling team. Parent/caregivers are encouraged to attend the Next Step Interview with their child. The Next Step interviews support students and their families to make decisions for the transition from school into their preferred pathways. Students and/or their parents will need to make a booking on Compass for a suitable time during weeks 3 (week beginning 22 July) to week 9 (week beginning 2 September) in Term 3, 2024. Bookings will open at on Monday 15 July and close Friday 26 July 9am.
QTAC
For students wishing to go into tertiary studies after year 12, this interview will also assist students in preparing for their QTAC (Queensland Tertiary Admission Centre) application. The senior schooling team will provide information to students on how to research and prepare for their application during Access in Term 3 prior to their meeting.
Preparing for a Next Step Interview
Students will receive Next Steps and QTAC information packs during access in week 3. In these packs, students will receive information on how they can prepare for their interview. Families should be having conversations at home around what their child/ren's plan for the following year will be.
Students planning to submit QTAC applications will need to ensure they have perused the QTAC guide https://www.qtac.edu.au/ and bring their preliminary preferences to their Next Steps Interview. Interviewers will help students and families finalise their QTAC preferences before submitting.
Booking an Interview on Compass:
Interview bookings will open on Monday 15 July 2024 and will close Friday 26 July 2024 so Next Steps Interviewers have time to prepare. Interviewers will include Guidance Officers, Senior Schooling Staff and Deputy Principals. Students and/or their parents will need to book an appropriate time to meet with their Next Steps Interviewer.
Bookings can be accessed by clicking on the “Community" icon (visual of two people) at the top left-hand corner of the home screen then scrolling down to Conferences.
If you are experiencing difficulties access Compass, please contact the College on (07) 3490 3222 and select the option for the Compass portal. Assistance for making bookings for Next Step interviews will be available from the Senior Schooling team commencing Friday 12 July, when bookings open.
