At Murrumba State Secondary College we offer the opportunity for students to participate in individual lessons and also be part of ensembles who perform regularly.
Welcome to all the families whose children enjoy the Instrumental Music Program.  With our ensembles growing each year we are excited to offer facilities and resources that allow students to engage with the instrument of their choice. Our Instrumental staff run regular ensemble rehearsals and weekly lessons for students to attend in preparation for competitions and performances in the College and wider community.  Information in relation to this can be found in our parent handbook.
Our ensembles consist of:
Percussion- An energetic ensemble who perform with power and skill on stage. Performances are inspired by many composers from different cultural perspectives.
String- A strong and passionate group of students who utilise both body and instrument to breathe new life into performances. Our string ensemble compete at various competitions and community events throughout the year.
Big Band (Brass)- A dynamic ensemble of instruments that work together to create a big sound that get feet tapping. An opportunity to play in a Jazz band is also on offer for students who perform in this ensemble.
Wind Symphony (Woodwind)- A symphony of musicians that work throughout the year to produce quality performances for competitions and college events.Using movie themes and a selection of other scores to engage their audience and create an enjoyable performance.
Murrumba singers – An inclusive singing group where everyone is welcome. This ensemble is for students that have a passion for singing and enjoy working in a large team.
Canto Corale – Our auditioned performance team who perform at competitions and special community and college events throughout the year. These students are professionally trained during weekly rehearsals with our singing teachers.
