Information Services Centre

​​Information Services provides resources to support curricular and co-curricular activities for our whole College community. All College community members have access to these resources, encouraging life-long learning. The major purpose of the centre is to assist students to develop information literacy knowledge and skills to assist them to become lifelong independent learners, informed decision makers and effective communicators.

Information Services Centre:

  • Provides access to a range of print, multimedia, and electronic resources selected to match the curriculum, the students' learning styles, abilities and interests.
  • Works collaboratively with teachers in providing an information literacy framework for students
  • Assists  students either individually or as a group in iServices or classroom
  • Provides guidance on developing student research skills, including advising on plagiarism, referencing and copyright
  • Provides quality reading experiences that enrich growth and promote a love of reading
  • Has flexible learning spaces suitable for individual, small and large group use
  • Has equipment and technologies to enable students to email, word process, scan, print, photocopy and produce.  Computers are available for research and assignment work.

Opening Hours

Students are able to access iServices during recreational times: before classes, during both lunch breaks and after classes. During class time students can come to iServices either individually or as part of a class with their teacher.

The Catalogue

Oliver is the automated operating system used and the catalogue can be accessed via any computer in the school. Users can log into Oliver to check the status of their loans; renew and reserve items, as well as search the catalogue.

Loans

Most loans have a two week time limit. Material may be re-borrowed if it is not required by another user. Overdue notices are issued to students through Connect classes and by email.

Fines

Students are not fined for late return of books during the year. When a student leaves or at the end of the year any outstanding books are charged to the student's account. Books damaged by students are charged to their account. Subsequent return of the "lost" borrowed book is credited.
