We are very fortunate to have a wonderful science facility at the college. It consists of three junior and three senior laboratories, which have six work stations for the students as well as group seating areas. This arrangement allows a great degree of flexibility with teaching and learning, accommodating experimental sessions, group work as well as direct teaching. The teacher’s bench in every lab is equipped with a data projector and an “eye in the sky” elmo camera. The elmo projects what is happening on the teacher’s bench up onto the screen for all students to view clearly and safely. We have all of the latest in scientific equipment, including data loggers and the soon to arrive tablets which will complement student learning.
We also have two ICT research rooms and preparation room that would impress any laboratory technician. The crowning glory in the science block however, is the Lecture theatre. This facility seats 90 students with a fully functioning science bench on the floor. Again, the lecture theatre has a zoomable Elmo allowing all in the room to get a good view of the experiment on the two large drop down screens. This facility will be used for guest speakers and year level science shows.
