Spanish Cultural Day 2016

On Wednesday 27th July the LOTE faculty hosted a Spanish Cultural Day for all Spanish Acceleration and Immersion students from Murrumba SSC and the Year 6 students from Undurba State School. The day consisted of tasting traditional Spanish paellas with Señor Paella, Hispanic cooking workshops including cooking and indulging in quesadillas, churros con chocolate and refrescante (refreshing tea). The day concluded with a flamenco demonstration and workshop hosted by Colours of the World.

All students thoroughly enjoyed the day’s events and experienced Spanish culture first hand. Students were able to practise their Spanish language skills with our Spanish exchange students, and engaged in cross-cultural interactions with a dance-off with the Japanese exchange students. It was great to see students getting involved in all activities and displaying great respect, positive attitudes and multicultural understandings.

A big thank you to everyone involved in the day. All students were especially well behaved and the wider MSSC community was extremely helpful in ensuring the success of the day. There was a great deal of collaboration between faculties, with a special thanks going to the hospitality and creative industry departments. Finally, a huge thank you to Touria Fernandez, all the LOTE staff and preservice teachers for organising and managing such a fantastic day!
