Camp Glastonbury

20/03/2015
What a spectacular sight… Year 7 Murrumba State Secondary College students bursting with anticipation and excitement the morning of camp. Camp Glastonbury’s Escape was a fantastic experience for both students and teachers. The camp was filled with three full days of students successfully challenging themselves in a variety of different situations. During the day students completed activities such as: outdoor rock climbing, bush navigation, raft building, team challenges, survival challenges and leadership activities. Night time featured fun-filled activities, including the night bush walk and trivia. One of the highlights for year 7 was definitely the amazing food that was made by the camp chef which was well-earned after all of their hard work at the camp activities.
The camp guides and teachers were thrilled to see all students showing our College values. There was clear resilience shown by students when participating in the activities. The outdoor rock climbing and raft building challenges created many nerves amongst the students, but this didn’t stop Murrumba students having a go. Year 7 absolutely loved the ‘Titanic’ challenge during raft building. It was remarkable to see Murrumba students helping and encouraging their peers every step of the way. This was a definite highlight for the teachers!
The year 7’s at Murrumba State Secondary College did a fantastic job of putting their tent up, keeping their tents clean, completing their duties and packing up the camp site. Murrumba students should be proud of how well they demonstrated our college values on so many levels. Well done year 7! Special thanks must go to the staff at Camp Glastonbury, as well as College staff, for ensuring all students had a great time.
